Type Locality and Naming

North-central Shandong. The Tongjiazhuang Fm was named by You Wencheng (1979), which was introduced in 1988. The type section is located in Shisilipu Town of Yishui County, Shandong Province. Coordinate: E118º47´00´´; N35º43´00´´. Middle formation in Tumen Gr.

Synonym: (佟家庄组)


Lithology and Thickness

The Tongjiazhuang Fm consists mainly of quartz sandstone or algae limestone yellow green shale interbedded with muddy limestone with stromatolites, microplants and macrofossils of algae. It is over 291 m thick.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It is disconformable with underlying Erqingshan Fm or unconformable with Taishan Complex or metamorphosed granite pluton.

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Fulaishang Fm.

Regional extent

North-central Shandong. It is developed in Yishui, Anqiu, Juxian and Changle area, Shandong Province.
